Membership Participating in the Fire Protection Engineering Program at the University of Maryland

Multiple members of your Prince George’s County Volunteer Marine Fire and Rescue

Department are pursuing higher education opportunities while also working part or full time jobs

in addition to volunteering their time to serve our community. Today we will be specifically

appreciating one of our current members, Samantha Farren (She/They), who serves with our

department as an Operations Lieutenant and the Executive Officer to the Chief of Department.

Outside of her services to our community she is a full time student in the Fire Protection

Engineering Program at the University of Maryland where she also holds two part time

employment positions as a Laboratory Technician for FireTec and Student Coordinator within

the Office of Global Engineering Leadership.

Samantha often travels immediately to and from the firehouse between shifts in order to

attend classes and work. This year Samantha represented all first responders and blue collar

workers who are tenacious in their pursuit of higher education opportunities whilst maintaining

their employment and service obligations by being included in advertisements for the Fire

Protection Engineering Department. Your volunteers here at the Prince George’s County

Volunteer Marine Fire and Rescue Department are proud to appreciate all aspects of our

community/department members lives!
