Brush Fire

At approximately 2:45pm on April 10th your Prince George’s County Marine Fire and Rescue Volunteers responded to a 2-5 acre brush fire burning uncontrolled in Fort Washington National Park. The crew on duty (photo above: Left to Right: Mike Szymanski, Felipe Blanco, Samantha Farren, and Chief of Department Janet Demeritt) placed themselves between the fire and Fort Washington Marina in order to protect the lives and properties of our neighbors and their belongings. After providing approximately 3 hours of service the fire was deemed controlled and Fireboat 857 and the crew returned to service. They then worked tirelessly for another four hours to ensure all equipment and apparatus were thoroughly checked and cleaned in order to remain ready for the next call to service.
