Process of Joining

For all new or experienced fire service applicants to Prince George's County seeking to join our fire and rescue organization, the process is the same. New application processing can take up to 120 days. Sometimes there are conflicts to resolve that increasing process period. Take the time read through each step of joining.

Complete the  Application Short Form

Just complete our short form and you are on your way to becoming a member! Your application will be reviewed by our recruitment team and someone will connect with you about options and opportunities.

Interview

If you are qualified and selected for membership based on the Application Short Form, you will be contacted for an initial interview (currently virtual) to learn more about our organization

Background Check

Applicants provide their finger prints for processing then complete the required  state and federal background check

Physical

For firefighters and EMTs, you will then be scheduled to complete a required physical exam provided and paid for by the Prince George’s County

Initial Training

Upon notification of your successful physical. You will take your first training class the Healthcare Provider CPR training. Which is free to all incoming members.

Probationary Membership

Completions of all the steps, you are then formally sworn in as a new probationary member of Prince George’s County Volunteer Marine Fire and Rescue Department, INC.
